Administrative Assistant, Vancouver

Introduction
The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in the organization and daily operations of the office. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the accounting department, and select senior staff members. As well as providing support, this position requires flexibility, problem solving, accuracy, strong communication skills (both written and verbal), confidentiality, and a high attention to detail. Multitasking, prioritizing workflow, and the ability to work independently and/or as a team are essential to success in this role.

Location and Reporting Structure
Based in the Vancouver Corporate office, this position reports directly to the Office Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to staff;
  • Document preparation including emails, forms, letters, and memos;
  • Assist with photocopying, scanning, faxing, and binding;
  • Support on-site meetings and events, including meeting room bookings, set-up, and catering;
  • Maintain tidiness of the meeting rooms and common areas;
  • Track office absences;
  • Liaise with building services regarding tenant issues;
  • Distribute mail and couriers;
  • Maintain boardroom and office equipment;
  • Maintain relationship with vendors;
  • Order supplies;
  • Assist with creating and maintaining the office’s intranet pages;
  • Assist with office renovations and furniture ordering;
  • Assist with travel arrangements;
  • Assist with drafting of the annual budget;
  • Prepare and arrange off-site file storage;
  • Conduct online research;
  • Reception relief and backup, as required;
  • Backup support for other administrative roles, as required; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ administrative experience in a similar role;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and
  • College Diploma or University Degree education level.

Manager of Internal Audit, VancouverLearn More

Position
Manager of Internal Audit, Vancouver

Location and Reporting Structure
Based in the Vancouver Corporate office, this position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a 4-person team working at various mine sites all over the world, including review of testing documentation;
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of DC&P and ICFR at Company’s head office;
  • Travel to and assist with SOX testing at the Nicaragua mine sites;
  • Develop annual internal audit testing plan;
  • Act as the company’s main point of contact with external auditors for internal audit inquiries;
  • Maintain and review the SOX program on an ongoing basis to ensure it remains up to date with the company’s evolving operations and its regulatory environment;
  • Travel to other mine sites to ensure internal audit program is working as planned to fill in any gaps and weaknesses, which may result in failing the external audit, if determined necessary;
  • Prepare quarterly internal audit reports to be presented to the Audit Committee;
  • Complete other internal audit functions, including but not limited to, the Enterprise Risk Management, Fraud Risk, and Cyber Security Assessments; and
  • Assist with other compliance projects, including reporting under the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act, as well as monitor compliance under the Corrupt Foreign Public Officials Act (Canada) and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (US).

Competencies and Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years internal or external audit experience in industry or public practice;
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA is preferred);
  • SOX experience in the mining industry (either in industry or public practice); and
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language is an asset.

Senior Accounts Payable Clerk, VancouverLearn More

Position
Senior Accounts Payable Clerk, Vancouver

Term
A full-time contract position to cover maternity leave for a term of approximately 15 months.

Location and Reporting Structure
Based in the Vancouver Corporate office, this position reports directly to the Corporate Accountant, and assists the Accounts Payable Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain shared accounts payable inbox and perform the first review of accounts payable invoices before batched in Dynamics GP, including ensuring proper approvals and coding;
  • Prepare and process weekly cheque run, including obtaining approvals and signatures;
  • Send payment confirmations, as required;
  • Post payments in the bank for USD, CAD, AUD, EUR in Dynamics GP;
  • Clear processed payments in Dynamics GP;
  • Maintain wire transfer templates in banks;
  • Maintain Vendor Database in Dynamics GP;
  • Review major credit card vouchers for coding before account payable clerks upload into Dynamics GP;
  • Prepare payments for monthly payroll run;
  • Review payroll upload for accuracy prior to account payable clerks uploading into Dynamics GP;
  • Review monthly intercompany invoice packages and prepare specified reports, as required;
  • Prepare bank deposits;
  • Assist Accounts Payable Supervisor, as directed with:
    • Review and sign off on AP batches prepared by clerks;
    • Process emergency payments, cash calls, and other bank transfers;
    • Process month end prepayments;
    • Review quarterly vendor statements;
    • Liaise with auditors; and
  • Act as backup to Accounts Payable Supervisor, as required.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with full-cycle accounts payable in a very high-volume and fast-pace environment;
  • Experience in a multi-currency environment;
  • Proficient working knowledge in MS Excel’
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 is an asset;
  • Proven time management expertise, with strong attention to detail;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization;
  • Strong verbal communication and written skills; and

Position
Project Analyst, Vancouver

Location and Reporting Structure
This position is based in the Vancouver Corporate office, but will be required to travel extensively, and reports directly to the Project Director.

Introduction
The Project Analyst will be responsible for maintaining, creating, and analyzing cost and cash flow models and operations results in support of corporate goals and directives. The position will include frequent interaction with site management and operations departments, as well as corporate finance and other departments.

Main topics will include creation, maintenance, and analysis of life of mine and annual budget cash flow models used for strategic planning and operations reporting, along with associated supervision, implementation, and reporting for B2Gold’s global operations. The successful candidate will be a responsible and self-directed professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where there is frequent change.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain annual and life of mine budgeting and cost modelling;
  • Analysis of operating, development, and evaluation projects;
  • Manage and/or perform discrete projects as the need arises;
  • Provide professional guidance and advice to B2Gold’s operations and projects;
  • Review and report on the status and outlook of mining operations regular and as needed;
  • Manage data and information and monitor key performance metrics and indicators;
  • Maintain communication with site and corporate management in relation to project performance and forecasts;
  • Travel to current and future operations and projects of B2Gold, as required;
  • Participate in due diligence and assessment of mine projects related to acquisitions and mergers; and
  • Maintain current on industry best practice and international performance standards.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Degree in Mine Engineering, Accounting, Mineral Economics, or similar relevant field;
  • 5 to 15 years of relevant mining industry experience, including significant time in site based mine operations;
  • Strong history of meeting targets and deadlines;
  • Experience working with and/or managing consultants and teams directly and remotely;
  • Strong knowledge, expertise, and understanding of mining industry financial models and analysis thereof;
  • Experience creating and maintaining mine budgets, cost models, and life of mine plans;
  • International working experience and ability to work within a variety of cultures and settings;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with all levels of internal colleagues and external professionals and stakeholders;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervisor, management multitasking, and multiple demands;
  • Knowledge and expertise working with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project); and
  • Strong English written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Position
HSEP Engineer, Vancouver

Location and Reporting Structure
This position is based in the Vancouver Corporate office, but will be required to travel extensively, and reports directly to the HSEP Manager.

Introduction
B2Gold Corp. is looking for an energetic self-starter HSEP Engineer who wants to learn and grow professionally within the role. He/she should have the demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively engage various teams across all sites to work towards the continuous improvement of HSE performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
To support the Company’s health, safety, and environment programs.

  • Provide input into the development of corporate, regional, and site procedures/practices;
  • Ensure the completion of annual Asset Retirement Obligation estimates for B2Gold’s sites;
  • Verify the completion of corrective actions relating to site HSE Improvement Plans, HSE audit findings, and significant HSE incidents;
  • Maintain incident/illness consolidated statistics for the Company’s operations;
  • Maintain various consolidated monitoring databases for the Company’s operations, e.g., water accounting framework water balances, GHG emission inventories, and waste management inventories;
  • Provide input to the development of the health, safety, and environment components of the Company’s Responsibility Report; and
  • Support environmental studies and impact assessments for the Company’s development projects, as required.

To advise the management group on corporate health, safety, and environment.

  • Produce and deliver monthly health, safety, and environment reports on the operational performance of B2Gold sites;
  • Prepare internal and external health, safety, and environment reports or components of reports, as required;
  • Review best practices and the competitive landscape and recommend continuous improvement efforts in corporate health, safety, and environment; and
  • Stay current with technological developments, standards, methods, and international best practices related to health, safety, and environmental management.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; and
  • French and/or Spanish language skills are an asset.
