Position

Legal Administrative Assistant, Vancouver

Introduction

The Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting members of the Legal Department to keep files organized on a day to day basis, depending on transactions at such time.

Location and Reporting Structure

Based in the Vancouver Corporate office, this position reports directly to the Manager, Securities, Compliance & Governance and the Manager, Legal Administration & Senior Paralegal. This role is a permanent position working 4 days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create new files, virtual file lists, and Worldox identification numbers for each document and scan documents into WD and update company file lists;
  • Ensure paper and digital filing is up to date;
  • Maintain file binder and index;
  • Maintain Confidentiality Agreements (“CA”) excel list and diarize CA’s for expiry;
  • Create company shadow minute books, when required;
  • Update corporate company fact sheets, when required;
  • Periodically prepare files that will be going to storage and keep records of materials filed or removed by entering it in the Excel master storage list;
  • Create boxes to be sent to Iron Mountain Storage Facilities and maintain storage file index;
  • Send quarterly mail-outs, including proofreading materials before Edgarization;
  • Create binders for the Directors, including inserting tabs and putting labels on spine;
  • Perform general office duties such as typing, photocopying, and shredding confidential material;
  • Place order of supplies for legal department;
  • Provide back-up reception support, when required; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Experience in maintaining files in hard copy and digital format;
  • Able to type 60 words per minute;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Knowledge of Worldox is an asset;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • An excellent team player who is willing to assist when required; and
  • Minimum 2 years working in a legal role.

Local Content Superintendent, West Africa – Mali Learn More

Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Country Manager, but working closely with the Procurement and Community Relations Departments, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the B2Gold Mali Fekola Mine.

Introduction
In Mali, Fekola SA, a subsidiary of B2Gold Corp., is finalizing development and commissioning operations at the Fekola Mine in the Kenièba Region. Fekola SA has a strong commitment ot the sustainable development of the communities affected by the project. In order to enhance local service provision and supplier content to strengthen the relationship with the main stakeholders of the project, Fekola SA is currently looking to recruit a Local Content Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Champion the company’s efforts to enhance local content;
  • Be responsible for identifying and assessing potential Malian service providers and suppliers at local, regional, and national levels by developing and implementing a pre-screening process leading to an approved local provider register;
  • Work with the Procurement Department to ensure that local procurement opportunities meet project standards in terms of minimum criteria relating to cost, quality, and timely delivery;
  • Define and implement engagement and training material for local providers to be able to conform to the company’s procurement standard procedures regarding contracts, tendering and payment, as well as Malian and company health, safety, environmental, and social requirements;
  • Work with the Community Relations Department and potential local service and providers and suppliers to define and provide relevant business development support programs;
  • Collect and evaluate statistical data and define indicators to track and report on local content enhancement initiatives to management, local stakeholders, and government authorities; and
  • Provide feedback to local service providers and suppliers that have unsuccessfully tendered for service or supply contracts, highlighting shortcomings and provide advice on requirements to improve chances of being successful in future tenders.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject areas (ex. supply chain, logistics, procurement, economics, etc.). Master’s degree is preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience with development organizations or mining companies;
  • Good communication, documentation, and control skills;
  • Able to multi-task;
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and local content;
  • Experience in community engagement, training and management, and reporting;
  • Good computer skills in relevant software (ex. Microsoft office); and
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Bambara, French, and English.

Site IT Manager, West Africa - MaliLearn More

Site IT Manager, West Africa – Mali

Introduction
B2Gold Corp. is looking to hire a Site Information technology manager for the West African Fekola Mine to run the site’s IT department and be responsible for the IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be an IT manager, architect or L2/L3 engineer with experience in building and maintaining end-to-end IT infrastructures for medium-sized branch offices/campuses and in managing small support teams.

Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the General Manager, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the Fekola Gold Project in Mali.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • As a lead of a 5-strong department, maintain and develop the Fekola Mine IT infrastructure, including: end user desktops and laptops (250+ Dell units), wired networks (50+ Cisco switches, 4 Mikrotik routers, FortiGate UTMs), wireless networks (30+ Ubiquiti bridges, 350+ access points), server infrastructure (Dell 3-server VMware farm with shared storage running Windows 2012R2 and Ubuntu Linux), backup (Veeam Backup&Replication + offsite tape backup);
  • Maintain user-facing, security and infrastructure services such as antivirus protection (Kaspersky AV), file servers, print services (30+ HP and Lexmark MFP printers), Windows updates, IP telephony (3CX IP PBX, Asterisk gateway, 100+ Snom IP phones), Internet connectivity, database services (Microsoft SQL Server), terminal services, IPTV (NetUp headend, 300+ NetUP STBs);
  • Manage, guide and lead the IT department staff;
  • Organize budgeting and procurement;
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation;
  • Provide IT infrastructure monitoring (Zabbix, Microsoft SCCM, GitLab, PasswordState);
  • Use the IT Service desk (OTRS) to provide a reliable IT support service to the end users;
  • Maintain the site radio system (Motorola MOTOTRBO repeaters, 250+ radios);
  • Maintain the site access control / time and attendance system (Gallagher) and the CCTV system (Avigilon, 50+ cameras, 3 servers).

Competencies and Requirements

  • End user technologies: Windows 7/10 (including mass rollouts and remote support), any major enterprise antivirus package, any workstation management package (SCCM, Symantec, etc.), Microsoft Office at a high/developer level (Microsoft Access, VBA scripting);
  • Networking technologies: any major campus networking vendor (Cisco preferred) at a CCNA level or similar (certification will be a plus). Solid understanding of L2 (VLANs, STP, 802.1X), L3 (OSPF and static routing, VPNs, UTMs and packet filtering), knowledge of the hardware product line. Solid understanding of wireless technologies (channel planning, end user experience troubleshooting, 802.1X) in an enterprise/large campus setting with any major vendor. IP telephony and Unified Communications experience implementation and troubleshooting experience. Good physical network experience, solid cabling and rack-building skills. Fiber welding experience will be a plus. Packet radio experience will be a plus;
  • Server and infrastructure technologies: any major virtualization vendor (VMware preferred), Windows Server (basic campus/branch office services), any Linux distribution. Solid knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy in an enterprise environment. Experience with any major backup package and an understanding of backup in an enterprise environment. Scripting with any major language (PowerShell, Python, Perl). Experience with cloud vendor offerings (AWS, Azure) will be a plus;
  • Management practices: understanding of common ITIL processes (certification will be a plus), knowledge of help desk practices (queues, prioritization and escalations, reporting and analysis), and experience as a team lead or an implementer with any Service Desk software. Experience with leading a small (<10 person) team; budgeting, procurement and vendor management. Good documentation, monitoring and reporting practices;
  • A solid understanding of IT security strategies and practices across all levels of the infrastructure (organizational measures, authentication improvements, endpoint hardening, network segmentation, server armoring);
  • Application or website development experience in a modern setting (version control, automated testing, CI) will be a plus. Database administration experience with any major product (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Postgres) will be a plus;
  • Electronics/DSP, embedded platform or instrumentation experience will be a major asset;
  • Fluent written and spoken English is an absolute must;
  • A strong “player-coach” mentality and work ethic, and a solid hands-on engineering background. Ability to work independently at all levels of the job function and be a final escalation point for all IT problems and all technologies used at the mine site. Be highly independent and expect to solve problems with available resources, without support from contractors or vendors;
  • 5+ years’ experience as an IT manager, IT architect or a senior (L2/L3) engineer;
  • Preference will be given to fluent speakers of French .

Grade Control Modelling Geologist, West Africa - Mali

Introduction
The position is responsible for the provision of all grade control modelling activities, geological data management, and QA/QC sample management.

Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the B2Gold Mali Fekola Mine.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimize all in pit RC grade control drilling;
  • Ensure accurate and representative RC grade control sample collection;
  • Establish, monitor, and control QA/QC performance of RC grade control samples;
  • Develop and perform the monthly laboratory QA/QC reconciliation processes in conjunction with the Chief Mine Geologist;
  • Ensure the delivery of validated data (chemical assay and spatial) to database;
  • Ensure accurate collection of geotechnical and grade face mapping data;
  • Compile validated electronic data;
  • Ensure sectional interpretation of geological, geotechnical, and grade domains;
  • Deliver validated wire framing data of geological, geotechnical, and grade domains;
  • Develop and coordinate monthly mine to mill reconciliation processes in conjunction with the Chief Mine Geologist;
  • Liaise with Assay laboratories to ensure compliance to standards through QA/QC;
  • Assure safe working practices and environment, and cooperate with other departments in safety programs;
  • Train and mentor junior geologists;
  • Report to Corporate to ensure compliance with company standards;
  • Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with B2Gold employees, contractors, and consultants; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Competencies and Requirements

  • BSC Degree with post graduate qualification in Geology, Geologic Engineering, or an equivalent;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably gold mining;
  • Proficient in geostatistics and 3D orebody modelling;
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products, and at least one mining software package, preferably Minesite;

Position

Health, Safety, Environmental, and Permitting Manager

Introduction

The Health, Safety, Environmental, and Permitting Manager will lead the Corporation’s healthy, safety, and environment programs; Track performance, identify priorities and develop strategies and programs to ensure continuous improvement in the Corporation’s health, safety, and environmental performance; Support regional and site staff in all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management such as the identification of best practices, investigation of root causes, assessment of risks, implementation of critical controls, and tracking indicators of performance; Ensure that the health, safety, and environment audit program provides a rigorous review of each site’s ability to manage health, safety, and environment and support sites in actions to address deficiencies and realize continuous improvement opportunities; and Support the Corporation’s reporting on health, safety and environment matters.

Location and Reporting Structure

This position is based in the Vancouver Corporate office, but will be required to travel extensively and reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

To manage the Corporation’s health, safety and environment programs

  • Oversee the corporate health, safety and environment function including establishing Policies and Standards, establishing Directives and Guidance, setting Objectives and Targets, and developing systems and measures that appropriately assess functional performance;
  • Ensure critical permits are maintained and complied with by all operations;
  • Provide input into the development of corporate, regional and site procedures/practices:
    • Standardize procedures/practices across the organization as needed;
    • Establish and maintain the Corporate Crisis Management Plan and coordinate crisis management exercises;
    • Ensure the completion of annual Asset Retirement Obligation estimates for B2Gold’s sites; and
    • Ensure that B2Gold’s tailings storage facilities are inspected annually and that inspection findings are communicated to site and corporate management.
  • Respond to requests and provide guidance and advice across the Corporation/function;
  • Provide expertise, guidance, mentoring, development and advisory services to all sites within B2Gold in all disciplines associated with health, safety and environmental management:
    • Assist regional and site personnel in implementing health, safety and environmental programs;
    • Advise and assist site management in the development of hazard control methods and techniques consistent with B2Gold health, safety and environment requirements;
    • Oversee the implementation and quality control of competency based training systems at B2Gold sites;
    • Oversee accident investigation process to ensure an effective root cause analysis system is maintained at each operation.  Collect data, analyze trends and communicate across the organization the common reasons why accidents are occurring, including overseeing the implementation of corrective actions at all B2Gold sites relating to findings from accident/incident investigations for extreme risk events at any B2Gold site; and
    • Ensure management system software is utilized effectively at B2Gold operating sites, including training site personnel in its use and approving and implementing software modifications/updates.
  • Oversee accident/incident investigations for fatalities and extreme risk events at B2Gold sites;
  • Measure, audit and evaluate the health, safety and environment management systems and hazard controls at B2Gold operations for conformance with B2Gold’s health, safety and environment requirements and communicate the results of evaluations to site management and appropriate corporate personnel:
    • Oversee the health, safety and environment standards (Management System Standards and Performance Standards) audit program, including communicating results to site management and appropriate corporate personnel.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up on issues that arise out of audits, inspections and accident/incident investigations;
  • Review regional and site health, safety and environment budgets;
  • Oversee the development of the health, safety and environmental components of the Corporation’s Responsibility Report;
  • Oversee environmental studies and impact assessments for the Corporation’s development projects;

 To build capacity of the Corporation’s health, safety and environmental staff

  • Assist as necessary in the search for and recruitment of regional and site health, safety and environment personnel;

  • Produce and deliver monthly health, safety and environment reports on the operational performance of B2Gold sites;

  • Prepare internal and external health, safety and environment reports or components of reports as required;
  • Interface as required with stakeholders on health, safety and environmental matters;
  • Conduct and report on health, safety and environment due diligence on potential acquisitions;
  • Review best practices and the competitive landscape and recommend continuous improvement efforts in corporate health, safety and environment;
  • Stay current with technological developments, standards, methods and international best practices related to health, safety and environmental management; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
