Position
Integrated Management System (IMS) Coordinator, Namibia

Introduction
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the HSE Management System in conformance with B2Gold requirements at the Otjikoto Gold Mine. 

Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, this position will be based at the B2Gold Namibia Otjikoto Mine.

Duties and Responsibilities
Implement and maintain the Health, Safety and Environment Management System

  • Monitor and sustain health, safety and environmental risk processes across the facility to eliminate and or reduce risks and impacts
  • Coordinate the complete gap assessments against defined management system standards with internal parties that includes corrective actions necessary to close identified gaps
  • Generate HSEM system metrics and report and communicate the status of the management system to HOD/Safety Superintendent and relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure appropriate follow up on issues that arise out of audits and inspections

Training, Awareness and Education

  • Plan and co-ordinate the safety training programs to ensure effective safety training for all B2Gold Namibia operations
  • Identify and analyse HSE training needs across the business unit
  • Source, compile and update training matrices and material and ensure commitment and adherence from all stakeholders
  • Ensure continuous improvement with regard to training material and equipment and initiate upgrades to ensure quality and legal compliance
  • Assist to maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the safety and health awareness training programme in areas of responsibility and make recommendations to Head of Departments and Section Heads where required
  • Ensure that all trainees are assessed in terms of their competency levels prior to and after training, where possible
  • Ensure that external training providers have updated material and ensure the quality of training and accuracy of information

Administration

  • Liaise with the HOD/Safety Superintendent to update material and stay abreast of changes
  • Support line management to ensure that HSE-related transgressions are addressed via updated records on CSafe
  • Improve and maintain the HSE Management System CSafe database
  • Participate to write and review the HSE documents and procedures
  • Prepare internal monthly EHS Reports and statistics
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near miss incidents to your supervisor in a timely manner
  • Ensure prompt action of all corrective actions of investigations, inspections and audits
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments in work area and ensure records reflect in CSafe accordingly

Health, Safety, Environmental, and Permitting Manager

Introduction
The Health, Safety, Environmental, and Permitting Manager will lead the Corporation’s healthy, safety, and environment programs; Track performance, identify priorities and develop strategies and programs to ensure continuous improvement in the Corporation’s health, safety, and environmental performance; Support regional and site staff in all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management such as the identification of best practices, investigation of root causes, assessment of risks, implementation of critical controls, and tracking indicators of performance; Ensure that the health, safety, and environment audit program provides a rigorous review of each site’s ability to manage health, safety, and environment and support sites in actions to address deficiencies and realize continuous improvement opportunities; and Support the Corporation’s reporting on health, safety and environment matters.

Location and Reporting Structure
This position is based in the Vancouver Corporate office, but will be required to travel extensively and reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
To manage the Corporation’s health, safety and environment programs

  • Oversee the corporate health, safety and environment function including establishing Policies and Standards, establishing Directives and Guidance, setting Objectives and Targets, and developing systems and measures that appropriately assess functional performance;
  • Ensure critical permits are maintained and complied with by all operations;
  • Provide input into the development of corporate, regional and site procedures/practices:
    • Standardize procedures/practices across the organization as needed;
    • Establish and maintain the Corporate Crisis Management Plan and coordinate crisis management exercises;
    • Ensure the completion of annual Asset Retirement Obligation estimates for B2Gold’s sites; and
    • Ensure that B2Gold’s tailings storage facilities are inspected annually and that inspection findings are communicated to site and corporate management.
  • Respond to requests and provide guidance and advice across the Corporation/function;
  • Provide expertise, guidance, mentoring, development and advisory services to all sites within B2Gold in all disciplines associated with health, safety and environmental management:
    • Assist regional and site personnel in implementing health, safety and environmental programs;
    • Advise and assist site management in the development of hazard control methods and techniques consistent with B2Gold health, safety and environment requirements;
    • Oversee the implementation and quality control of competency based training systems at B2Gold sites;
    • Oversee accident investigation process to ensure an effective root cause analysis system is maintained at each operation.  Collect data, analyze trends and communicate across the organization the common reasons why accidents are occurring, including overseeing the implementation of corrective actions at all B2Gold sites relating to findings from accident/incident investigations for extreme risk events at any B2Gold site; and
    • Ensure management system software is utilized effectively at B2Gold operating sites, including training site personnel in its use and approving and implementing software modifications/updates.
  • Oversee accident/incident investigations for fatalities and extreme risk events at B2Gold sites;
  • Measure, audit and evaluate the health, safety and environment management systems and hazard controls at B2Gold operations for conformance with B2Gold’s health, safety and environment requirements and communicate the results of evaluations to site management and appropriate corporate personnel:
    • Oversee the health, safety and environment standards (Management System Standards and Performance Standards) audit program, including communicating results to site management and appropriate corporate personnel.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up on issues that arise out of audits, inspections and accident/incident investigations;
  • Review regional and site health, safety and environment budgets;
  • Oversee the development of the health, safety and environmental components of the Corporation’s Responsibility Report;

Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will be based at the B2Gold Mali Fekola Mine.

Introduction
The Financial Accountant is responsible for financial reporting internally and externally to Head Office (Vancouver) taking into consideration the different statutory requirements like IFRS, OHADA and Malian Tax Law. The duties also include assistance with budgets and forecasts; cash flow requirements, liaising with stakeholders to communicate difficult and complex financial transactions; and development of SOX controls. A major initial task will be the development of processes and procedures to move from construction to operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
Prepare/compile/generate financial reports including but not limited to:

  • Monthly and quarterly reports required by Head Office in Vancouver;
  • Preparation of additional analysis and breakdowns as requested by Head Office in Vancouver;
  • Monthly and year-end reports required by Malian Tax Law, OHADA and other Malian Statutory requirements;
  • Oversee and review the maintenance of accounting and other integrated systems;
  • Develop and implement a plan to change accounting and control practices/procedures from construction phase to operational phase;
  • Review reconciliations of the group of companies’ trial balances in terms of IFRS, Malian Tax and OHADA requirements;

  • Assist with establishment of operational objectives for each financial year with cooperation of key stakeholders
  • Assist with financial planning and forecasting standards and cash flow requirements
  • Assist with communication of approved financial plans and forecasts to relevant stakeholders

General Duties

  • Build and maintain healthy and transparent relationships with stakeholders (internal and external);
  • Act as an interface between the financial and non - financial stakeholders and provide advice on the interpretation of relevant financial and cost management reports;
  • Develop and apply mechanisms and structures to ensure adherence to governance practices and protocols (Malian Tax Laws, OHADA, IFRS and other Malian Statutory requirements);
  • Assist with audit enquiries (external or internal) and special investigations;
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to SOX compliance for the respective processes responsible for;

Regional Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Vancouver

Introduction
The Regional CSR Manager will fulfill the mandate of social responsibility mandate for B2Gold. Working closely with senior management at all sites and with field teams, the Regional CSR Manager will mobilize the organization and collaborate in the development of CSR strategies for the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the corporate CSR mandate of: i) social risk management; ii) capability development; and iii) community investment;
  • Working with the other Regional CSR Manager colleague, provide direction to our sites on the implementation of our social responsibility policy, social performance standards, and community investment strategy;

Deputy Mining Manager, West Africa – Mali

Introduction
The Deputy Mining Manager will be responsible for managing all open pit operations such as drilling, blasting, and loading and hauling to optimize the use of allocated resources and ensure that the pit production targets are achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities

Senior Mining Engineer, West Africa – Mali

Introduction
The Senior Mining Engineer is responsible for providing mine planning services within the mining engineering group, including scheduling, drilling layouts, blasting assistance, coordination with grade control, and other general requirements of mining operations of a producing gold mine. He/she ensures the mining operations section meets the needs of an expanding operation while maintaining an international standard of practice and a high level of internal communications.

This position will be responsible for long-term mine planning for the open pit mine and delivering production data and reports, stockpile accounting, and mine-mill reconciliation. Emphasis will be on minimizing dilution and ore loss, training and mentoring, tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality, and maintaining high standards of work safety and health.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and stamp invoices;

  • Ensure messages/requests are conveyed clearly and understood by recipients;

Competencies and Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Grade 12;
  • At least 10 years mining experience in surface mining operations of which 5 years must be on mining supervisory level;
  • Knowledge of explosive and Minerals Act and Regulations;
  • Possession of Code BE driver’s license;
  • Valid open pit blasting ticket; and
  • Supervisory certificate is an asset.

Position
Pit Superintendent, West Africa – Mali

Introduction
The Pit Superintendent will be responsible for managing the pit operations such as drilling, blasting, and loading and hauling to optimize the use of allocated resources and ensure that the pit production targets are achieved.

Location and reporting structure
Reporting to the Mining Manager, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the B2Gold Mali Fekola Mine.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan the activities of the pit to produce the short, medium, and long term required production targets to achieve optimal efficiencies;
  • Investigate and recommend final pit design parameters and surface layouts to the Mining Manager;
  • Liaise with the maintenance team on the scheduling of maintenance of the earthmoving fleet;
  • Implement and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives which target efficiency for the pit operation and productivity improvements;
  • Management of pit operation on ensuring continuous supply of feed ore to the processing plant;
  • Management of any possible Contractors in the pit to ensure production and adherence to safety procedures, and relevant statutory legislation;
  • Continuously analyze processes and systems in the pit with a view of finding ways for corrective action that could eliminate problem areas and to realign again with set goals and objectives;
  • Plan, schedule, and resource to meet set targets of the pit;
  • Facilitate the morning daily production meeting, document and ensure a controlled filing system of all proceedings;
  • Draw up annual budget for pit operation for approval by the Mining Manager;
  • Manage the daily operational performance of subordinates to ensure adherence to production targets;
  • Identify training needs of the section and liaise with relevant parties to achieve development goals;
  • Establish and maintain sound working relationships with coworkers/team members to resolve problems;
  • Ensure work is done safely and in accordance with company procedures;
  • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained in all areas of operation;
  • Comply with safety standards; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Competencies and Requirements

  • A Degree or high National Diploma in Mining Engineering;
  • At least 8-10 years mining experience in surface mining operations;
  • Knowledge of explosive and Minerals Act and Regulations;
  • Hot and dusty work environment experience required;
  • Possession of Code BE driver’s license; and
  • Valid open pit blasting ticket.
