My adventure with B2Gold began with an internship experience, a crucial step that marked the start of my career in the environmental field. This initial immersion enabled me to acquire valuable knowledge and in 2020 my perseverance and commitment meant that I was recruited as an Assistant Environmental Officer; I was most recently promoted in 2024 into my current position. Each step in my career has been a springboard to new challenges, and I’m deeply grateful for the support and opportunities I’ve received at B2Gold.

After high school, I received a bursary from B2Gold in 2016, which required gaining practical experience at the open-pit operation before starting university. With B2Gold’s support, I pursued a Mining Engineering degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. After graduating in 2022, I joined B2Gold as a Mining Graduate, transitioning into an Underground Mining Engineer Graduate program. Upon completion, I advanced to the position of Production Engineer, managing drill and blast operations and ensuring operational targets were met. I specialized as an Underground Drill and Blast Engineer, focusing on optimizing designs, contractor management, and safety. The mentorship, challenges, and opportunities I’ve received at B2Gold have shaped me into a well-rounded mining professional.

Prior to joining B2Gold Nunavut, I worked at the CIC Women’s Shelter in Kugluktuk as a Casual Support Worker and a second job as Office Clerk at the Northern Store. I started at B2Gold as Front Desk Clerk in December 2023 and was quickly promoted to the Inuit Support Coordinator role in August 2024. The Company provided me with the opportunity to apply for the Inuit Support Coordinator role; I have received support, encouragement, and on-the-job training from my supervisor and team. I act as the point of contact between B2Gold and Inuit employees and other Inuit stakeholders, ensuring that our Inuit employees have the support they need. I also host events on site that celebrate Inuit culture, traditions and values, and provide opportunities for Inuit employees to share stories and country food with their colleagues.

I began my career at MGP in January 2015 as a Senior Electrical Engineer, where I developed both my technical skills and leadership abilities. In July 2024 I was promoted to the position of Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent. Understanding the value of ongoing growth and professional certification, I decided to pursue my Professional Electrical Engineering (PEE) license in 2023. Balancing work with study was challenging, but with the unwavering support of the Company and colleagues, I succeeded in earning my PEE license in 2024. This achievement reflects the encouragement from my colleagues and the organization, who believed in my potential and supported my career development. I am truly thankful for the supportive environment at MGP, which nurtures professional growth and inspires individuals to reach their goals.

I began my journey at B2gold in September 2018 as an HR Graduate Trainee at the Otjikoto Mine, gaining extensive training across various HR functions. In March 2020 I was promoted to the role of HR Practitioner, and in April 2023, I assumed my current role as HR Coordinator at the Windhoek Head Office, deepening my commitment to serving employees with humility, kindness, and integrity. A career highlight came in November 2024, when I was honoured with the IPM HR Business Partner of the Year Award, a testament to the support of the B2Gold HR team, colleagues, and management. I believe it is essential to use one’s professional position to spread love and kindness, making life a little better for those around us. My passion for people drives me to remain an ambassador not only for the B2Gold HR team but also for the Company as a whole.

The PGPRC and the TESDA training center have changed my life in ways I never expected. I went from being a doubtful housewife to a certified heavy equipment operator, thanks to an initiative that opened training programs to the community. This opportunity sparked my passion and showed me that I could achieve what once felt impossible. Since starting as an operator trainee at the TSF Dam Construction site for the Masbate Gold Project in August 2023, I have become a fully qualified heavy equipment operator. Each day, I challenge stereotypes about women, especially provincial housewives and single mothers. Before this opportunity, I worked hard as a motorcycle delivery driver, supporting my four children as a single parent. Now, I stand proud not just for myself but as a source of inspiration for my kids, proving that with determination and belief, dreams can come true.

I started my HR career as a summer student at Qulliq Energy Corporation in 2017 – progressing from student to Acting Manager, Employee & Labour Relations in four years. I started at Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. as the Human Resources Officer. After a year, I moved into the role of Human Resources Business Partner with B2Gold and then, after two years, into my current role. Working at the former Sabina, now B2Gold, has significantly enhanced my skills, capabilities and confidence. Being a part of a team that is constantly growing, expanding and changing has helped me expand my knowledge. My advice to anyone wishing to pursue a similar career path is to focus on your job and never give the response “that’s not in my job description”; don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and to try something new.

My career at B2Gold took an important turn on August 1, 2023, when I was appointed Security Officer (following various other internal opportunities and promotions). This promotion marked a significant step in my professional development, enabling me to supervise teams and manage complex situations effectively. I sincerely thank the B2Gold team for their trust and support along the way. As a woman in a field often dominated by men, I'd like to stress that gender should never be an obstacle. What counts is determination, willpower and hard work. I hope to inspire other women to pursue their ambitions with courage and conviction.

I make sure that we are on schedule and that work is being performed safely. I train new employees on our Standard Operating Procedures, and I also assist the Tradesmen in performing daily functions like carpentry work and repairs. I started at Goose Lake in April 2022 as an Equipment Operator. I moved up to the position of Skilled Labourer and was promoted to Team Lead. I am truly grateful for the support I have received throughout my career, which has empowered me to succeed as a mill operator in a male-dominated field. My journey demonstrates that MGP values diversity and actively encourages women in technical roles. I hope to inspire other women to pursue similar paths, proving that skills and determination matter above all. Being part of the Mine Emergency Response Team has allowed me to showcase my leadership and commitment to important roles, and I take pride in representing the opportunities for growth that this organization offers – not just for myself, but for the entire community. My message is clear: as a woman and a mill operator, I’m proud to demonstrate that success here is driven by ability and hard work, making this a place where everyone can grow and lead.
