Position

Ironworker Superintendent, Mali (Contract Term)

Introduction

The Ironworker Superintendent is responsible for planning and overseeing the rebar and steel erection work while upholding the highest safety standards to ensure a safe work environment at all times.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the General Manager of Plant & Infrastructure Construction, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the Fekola Gold Project in Mali.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, concrete and structural drawings, rough sketches, and specifications to determine work activities;
  • Plan, assign, schedule and supervise the work of the re-bar bending and structural steel installation crews and equipment operators engaged in the installation of structural steel and rebar;
  • Coordinate, issue work orders and be accountable for organizing the structural steel and other materials and equipment required for the crew to get their work completed;
  • Manage a crew of workers, organize labor and material on a daily basis;
  • Complete administrative paperwork relating to the crew and their site work;
  • Manage and coordinate shared resources with other Superintendents;
  • Track and report daily job productions, control daily costs and waste;
  • Coordinate with project engineers regarding structural inspections;
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members on an ongoing basis;
  • Manage crews and prevent occupational hazards and ensure site meets all safety standards;
  • Work with the Safety Department to ensure all health and safety policies are enforced;
  • Communicate with Site Superintendent and Project Engineers regarding any concerns, discrepancies, additions, or alterations that may arise during construction;
  • Assist all Site Superintendents and Project Coordinators/Estimators in coordinating with the work of trades and consultants and;
  • Other duties as set out by the company.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
  • Completion of college/vocational or technical training;
  • 2-5 years’ superintendent experience and/or related training and;
  • Experience with workplace safety programs

Finance & Administration Manager, Philippines

Introduction
The Finance and Administration Manager is responsible for a long-range of financial matters including establishing company-wide financial and administrative objectives, policies, programs, and practices to ensure the Company maintains a continuously sound financial structure.  This includes control of company assets such as the cash flow through the organization and maintaining the integrity of funds, securities, and other valuable documents.

This position is directly accountable to the President and the board of directors through the President for the performance of all responsibilities related to financial management and administration.

The incumbent will provide leadership and overall management direction to a wide range of activities related to Finance, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Administration and discretionary activities that serve to support effective operations.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the Masbate Gold Project in Masbate, Philippines.

Duties and Responsibilities

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team to provide a united, visible, and strong leadership presence across the organization to help encourage new thinking, focus and to prioritize efforts, and operationalize the strategic plan;
  • Develop and evaluate short and long-term strategic financial objectives, ensuring they are aligned with overall strategy;
  • Provide leadership, direction, and compliance for Finance, Administration, Supply Chain and IT.

FINANCE, ADMINISTRATION, SUPPLY CHAIN & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGMENT

  • Oversee the operations of the Finance department in the management of:
    1. Financial Systems/Reporting, including Compliance & Standards
    2. Treasury, Audit & Fixed Assets Functions
    3. Creditor Payments & Accounts Receivable
    4. Taxation & Regulatory Functions
    5. Budget, Payroll & Gold Shipment
    6. Pronto Administration & Project Management
  • Establish the execute programs for the provision of the capital required, including negotiating the procurement of capital and maintaining the required financial arrangements. Coordinate the long-range plans of the Company, assess the financial requirements implicit in these plans, and develop alternative ways in which financial requirements can be satisfied;
  • Manage and supervise the preparation of timely financial and management reports.  Manage completion of accurate analyses and financial reporting in order to ensure the highest level of compliance with financial oversight by executives and board members;
  • Approve all agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for products or services and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources;
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions in conjunction with the President.
  • Provide insurance coverage as required;
  • Provide advice on all matters to the President and assist the President in the formulation of overall corporate objectives;
  • Accountable to the President and the board of directors through the President for the performance of all responsibilities related to financial management and administration. Provide reports on company finances as requested by the President and the board of directors;
  • Lead and manage the budget and financial forecasting processes, as well as institutes and maintain systems of internal controls, including evaluation and implementation of financial policies, procedures and standards designed to preserve the Company assets;
  • Ensure compliance across the organization with governance requirements and applicable local, national and international regulatory laws, rules for financial and tax reporting, and SOX compliance and reporting – confident to act where non-compliance is identified;
  • Interpret statistical and accounting information to assess operating results in terms of performance against budget, cash flow projections, long term sustainability, and the operating effectiveness of the Company;
  • Supervise the preparation of the monthly cash call and monitoring of payments to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payments and the management of the company's cash requirements;
  • Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives;
  • Take a lead role in the training of staff, identifying succession role requirements and high potential talent and actively develop key talents;
  • Ensure accounting transactions and reporting conforms to Philippine GAAP, tax laws and rulings;
  • Oversee the overall operations of the Administration Department in providing support services to all departments in a timely and efficient manner. The administration department coordinates international and domestic travel and accommodation arrangements, logistics, onsite transport coordination, accommodation and catering services, event organization, site repair and maintenance, office administration, policy formulation and implementation, provide manpower support to the company’s marine fleet, and other related support activities;
  • Oversee the overall operations of Supply Chain by providing leadership and coordination with a focus on the delivery of an efficient service. Ensure effective procedures are in place to purchase at the best competitive prices, deliver in a safe manner to site and adequately protect all company assets under supply chain control. Ensure company Supply Chain policies and procedures are effectively followed;
  • Oversee overall operations of Information Technology in maintaining a reliable technological infrastructure and provide continuous improvement utilizing cost effective technologies that suit the organizational needs. Ensure the efficiency of in-house information systems by monitoring, supporting, and optimizing all network software and hardware. Deliver outstanding end user support to maximize productivity. Protect and secure the integrity of the Company’s data and;
  • Other duties as set out by the Company.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration with minimum eight years of hands-on accountancy or auditing experience. MBA and CPA preferred;
  • Possess strong leadership, negotiation, communication, coaching, problem solving, project management, and analytical skills;
  • At least eight years’ work experience preferably in the Mining Industry as a Finance and Administration Manager;
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and current pronouncements and developments;
  • Knowledge on the 1995 Philippines Mining Act;
  • Knowledge of Philippine tax laws especially on local taxation, expanded withholding tax and VAT;
  • Good systems experience and preference for experience using Pronto Enterprise Management System;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Extensive finance and cash flow management experience; 
  • Good planning, organizing, scheduling and monitoring skills; 
  • Experience in successful strategic planning and execution;
  • Proficiency in effective presentation of information and ideas to executive team and board of directors and;
  • Good track record of building and coaching strong, productive teams.

Deputy HME Manager, Mali

Introduction
The Deputy HME Manager is responsible for ensuring that all mobile equipment is in good condition and working order. The incumbent will be involved in mitigating problems arising daily by providing cost effective solutions and effective strategy on repairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of workplace health and safety at all times.

The Deputy HME Manager will be responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and supervising the day to day activities of the Mobile Equipment Maintenance, controlling the quality of repairs, PMS, implementation of safety fleet standards, and performance appraisal of subordinates.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the HME Manager and covering for the HME Manager while on their scheduled time off, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the Fekola Gold Project in Mali.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and support all company related policies and procedures;
  • Manage the earthmoving equipment workshop in order to achieve optimal availability, utilization and performance objectives;
  • Evaluate and determine manpower requirements and deployment to achieve optimum utilization of resources to achieve objectives;
  • Review and determine mechanical equipment scheduled maintenance requirements in order to optimize maintenance costs and engineering down time;
  • Review maintenance performance reports and equipment repair history and recommend and implement corrective action;
  • Review component change out intervals and determine an economical component change out schedule to minimize unplanned downtime;
  • Plan major repairs/overhauls of machinery, in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, suppliers and contractors, in order to minimize downtime;
  • Ensure machine operation and maintenance within the confines of the contracts with various suppliers and warranty agreements;
  • Ensure efficient and adequate technical post-mortems on component failures and implement preventative actions;
  • Implement, monitor and maintain condition monitoring program;
  • Implement, monitor and maintain tyre management system;
  • Plan and recommend future capital and manpower requirements;
  • Prepare and manage approved capital and working cost budgets for the HME section;
  • Monitor and evaluate stockholding and movement of spares and ensure availability of sufficient consumable and critical spares to maintain the fleet;
  • Monitor expenditure on HME equipment, report on Life Cycle Costing and determine the economic replacement criteria for components and equipment;
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings, and conduct a monthly safety inspection of work area based on the schedule set by Management;
  • Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy;
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near miss incidents in a timely manner;
  • Conduct and participate in investigations for all injuries, accidents and equipment damage in line with Company Policy and prepare all documentation in a timely manner;
  • Develop and implement good housekeeping;
  • Encourage all employees to develop and maintain a safe working attitude;
  • Ensure prompt action of all corrective actions of investigations, inspections and audits;
  • Ensure all safe working procedures are documented and adhered to; and
  • Other duties as set out by the Company.

Competencies and Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in engineering with earthmoving equipment and workshop management;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role;
  • Experience with workplace safety programs; and
  • Possession of Code B drivers’ license.
