Global HR Business Partner

Introduction
The Global Human Resources Business Partner focuses on providing support and solutions to corporate and site HR Departments, ensuring the cohesiveness and effectiveness of HR practices and adherence to strong governance principles.

Location and Reporting Structure
Based in the Vancouver Corporate office with extensive travel requirements, this position reports to the Director, Human Resources and Administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the overall company strategy and ensure that regional HR Departments are aligned accordingly;
  • Involvement in the HR lifecycle at operations, from feasibility to closure stages,  responsible for assisting with site employment, setting up local HR Departments with all necessary staffing levels, payroll, contractual, policy, HRIS and other frameworks to ensure operational readiness; transitioning employees from construction to operations phase; providing continuous support to the local HR Departments as and when required; and assisting with closure planning;
  • Identify, recommend and implement general industry HR Best Practices;
  • Support and provide advice to HR Departments on policy and practices, with emphasis on success factors in the Mining Industry;
  • Develop, implement and maintain group HR reporting mechanisms;
  • Responsible for compiling monthly group HR reports as well as drafting contributions to annual reports
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the operations and human resources managers to develop corrective action;
  • Involvement in, contribution to and, at times, manage HR audits;
  • Assist in reviewing human rights risk assessments, working collaboratively with HR and CSR managers to identify and implement corrective measures;
  • Manage global HR projects and initiatives, and assist with program development such as Diversity and Inclusion and implementation;
  • Assist and / or facilitate international sourcing of human resources, talent management and skills transfer;
  • Create and maintain a database containing all group HR policies and other reference materials;
  • Conduct investigations, provide support/oversight to grievances;
  • Create a platform for global HR teams to share knowledge and experience as well as to discuss workplace issues, solutions and initiatives;
  • Act as the primary HR contact between sites and the Corporate office; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent;
  • Preference for professional designation (CPHR or equivalent);
  • Minimum of 6 years working experience in a similar HR position in an international mining company;
  • Experience in tracking HR-related KPIs and strong working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines;
  • Advanced-level working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize a complex workload, meeting deadlines while producing quality work;
  • Knowledge of common international employee legislation and global standards;
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.  Bilingual in Spanish and/or French will be considered advantageous;
  • Must be able to create collaborative teams and work independently;
  • Excellent facilitation skills and ability to foster working relationships at all levels;
  • Willing and able to travel to the company’s various international operations, including developing countries; and
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations.

Position

Senior Electrical Supervisor, Mali

Introduction

The Senior Electrical Supervisor will oversee the electrical maintenance activities within the Fekola mine site, ensuring they are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures to facilitate site electrical infrastructure and the process plant are achieving the required targets. The Senior Electrical Supervisor will mentor the Electrical Supervisor to coordinate and motivate their team. Reporting regularly to superiors, he/she will plan, implement and provide oversight of preventative, correctional and electrical maintenance matters.

The incumbent will ensure proper repairs are carried out to plant and equipment as soon as is practical, largely through collaboration with the plant processing operations team and through fostering effective and positive working relationships.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the Fekola Gold Project in Mali.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOP) and job safety analyses (JSA);
  • Accountable for the integrity, reliability and operability of electrical equipment installations at the site;
  • Address electrical non-conformance issues through effective use of departmental resources, elevating concerns as necessary;
  • Install electrical equipment and devices according to applicable electrical codes and industry standards;
  • Prepare and interpret electrical / instrumentation drawings, schematic diagrams and plans;
  • Prepare accurate and concise reports and other documentation promptly, adhering to deadlines (i.e. work orders, condition reports etc.);
  • Assist with daily and weekly planning, execution and control, including the scheduling and prioritizing of work assignments;
  • Responsible for the successful execution of process plant shutdown activities and quality of work performed;
  • Ensure the process plant is maintained in an excellent state of orderliness at all times, adhering to management standards;
  • Ensure transactions of electrical spares and consumables are costed to the correct GL code / work order number;
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections of the electrical activities during your shift, providing direction to team members accordingly;
  • Conduct monthly scheduled safety meetings with electrical team members on a regular basis (i.e. no less than monthly);
  • Liaise with process plant operations on a daily basis to ensure suitable resolution has been achieved with equipment performance or reliability issues;
  • Ensure compliance with safe working practices and environmental and industry standards by process plant employees, contractors and visitors, cooperating with other departments regarding HSE compliance;
  • Train, mentor and develop local employees;
  • Provide effective care, maintenance and utilization of assets;
  • Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with B2Gold employees, contractors, and consultants; and
  • Other duties as set out by the Company.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years’ industry experience, at least 3 years within a gold processing plant at a supervisory or senior technical support role;
  • Trade qualifications in electrical maintenance discipline;
  • Red Seal trades certification considered an asset;
  • High electro-mechanical aptitude with an advanced level of troubleshooting skills;
  • Advanced fluency in English required; additional proficiency in French would be considered an asset;
  • Experience in delivery and oversight of workplace safety programs;
  • Experience with CMMS and planning functions;
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to effectively supervise, prioritize and manage tasks with minimum supervision;
  • Ability / willingness to work long shift durations including shift work; and
  • Understanding of industry standards and legislative requirements governing electrical systems in mining and quarrying operations.

Position

Millwright, Mali

Introduction

The principal function of the Millwright is to support the mechanical maintenance activities within the processing plant, ensuring they are being conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures, facilitating the achievement of the process plant target. The Millwrights coordinate and motivate their team towards these objectives, control and manage activities in the safest possible manner, providing regular, prompt and reliable information to their superiors. A core function for the Millwright will be the transference of skills to other trades personnel/artisans, through effective training and mentoring.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendent, this position will be a fly in – fly out rotation, based at the B2Gold Mali Fekola mine.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Adhere to and support all company related policies and procedures;

  • Trade qualifications in a mechanical maintenance discipline;
  • Advanced fluency in English required; additional proficiency in French would be considered an asset;
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a mineral processing plant post trade;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a similar role;
  • Demonstrated mathematical acuity;
  • Experience in delivery and oversight of workplace safety programs;
  • Experience and understanding of load shifting techniques (including directing cranes and other mechanical equipment);
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude;
  • Experience with CMMS and related planning;
  • Training or experience with WHIMIS/MSDS as it relates hazardous material handling;
  • Ability/willingness to work extended shifts, including shift work; and
  • Ability to perform safely and comfortably at heights and in confined spaces.
